Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled a groundbreaking solution to the long-standing premix fuel issues plaguing fisherfolk. Speaking at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East constituency on September 23, 2024, Dr. Bawumia announced the introduction of solar-powered outboard motors, designed to permanently address the problem.
Previous attempts to resolve the issue, including the installation of automated dispensing machines at landing beaches and fishing communities, have fallen short. However, Dr. Bawumia’s innovative solution promises to eliminate the need for premix fuel altogether.
He announced that the piloting of the solar-powered outboard motors is expected to begin next month, allowing fisherfolk to experience the benefits firsthand. This permanent solution will ensure that fisherfolk no longer need to purchase premix fuel to power their outboard motors.
