Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is leading the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the December elections, has said he will reclassify religious organizations as development partners.
According to Dr. Bawumia, Churches and Mosques play significant roles in the development of Ghana , however they face hurdles.
The presidential candidate of NPP doesn’t understand why foreign institutions are allowed to clear logistics from the habour without sweat , but same privilege is not offered to religious bodies , who are helping the state in the provision of infrastructure across Ghana.
In view of this challenge, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to change the status quo by labeling religious institutions as development partners.
Dr. Bawumia made these disclosures at the Bosometwe constituency, during a stakeholders meeting at Esereso , which was attended by chiefs, pastors and imams.
He added that if given the chance to become president, he would put in measures that will enable Christians go on pilgrimage in Israel.
