The Director of Research and Elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed that the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat in the just-ended elections in the interest of national peace.
This decision, he noted, was made after consultation with the party’s leadership.
Speaking exclusively to Happy Kasiɛbɔ, he noted that, Dr. Bawumia’s concession aligns with his commitment to promoting peace and stability in Ghana, a stance he emphasized during the recent signing of the peace pact. He explained that this decision reflects Dr. Bawumia’s desire to uphold the values of democracy and ensure a harmonious post-election environment.
He further clarified that the NPP’s presence at the National Collation Center is solely to monitor the process and verify results in accordance with electoral laws and the party’s team is focused on identifying and addressing any anomalies in the results submitted from various constituencies.
Dr. Bawumia’s actions are seen as a demonstration of his dedication to the principles of democracy and his commitment to preserving the peace Ghana is known for, as the nation awaits the Electoral Commission’s official declaration of the election winner.
