Retired senior police officer, ACP Dr. Benjamin Kwasi Agordzo has urged president-elect, John Dramani Mahama not to extend the mandate of Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
According to ACP Agordzo, some police officers will mobilize themselves to drive Dampare out of office if he stays in office beyond January 7, 2025.
He said IGP Dampare despite renovating the Police headquarters to make it more appealing to the eye, he has done little to safeguard the welfare of the men and women in uniform.
“Dampare should not stay there beyond 7th of January. If the president elect and the NDC make the mistake to keep him there, some police officers will mobilize to go and kick him out.”
“I’m telling you this on authority and the president shouldn’t make that mistake. I’m not saying that he hasn’t done anything because he has beautified the police headquarters but that should reflect in the lives of the men in uniform,” ACP Agordzo said.
