Donkro-Nkwanta Chief pleads for police presence

Chief of Donkro-Nkwanta in the Nkoranza South Municipality, Bono East Region, Nana Owusu-Akyaw Brempong II has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to redeploy police personnel to the local sub-station.

This request comes amidst a worrying surge in armed robbery and social vices in the community. The Chief linked the rising crime rate to the withdrawal of police officers from the sub-station following a fatal incident involving police and youth in Nkoranza, which resulted in the death of one Albert Donkor. Since then, all police personnel have abandoned their posts, and efforts to persuade them to return have been unsuccessful.

He emphasized the community’s eagerness to support the police, offering accommodation and maintaining the police station’s surroundings, but their efforts have been in vain, leaving the police post in disarray.
