Ghanaian entertainer kum businessman Tic has mentioned that it is difficult to operate as a business person in Ghana.
According to him, to survive in Ghana as a businessman, you need to attract and please your clientele by providing your staff with quality training.
In an interview with DJ Advicer during GMABC’s entrepreneurship month he said, “You need to train your staff to meet the needs of your clientele. And if that doesn’t work, then that is a problem”.
To prevent client dissatisfaction, Tic noted that one has to invest constantly in the training and retraining of staff and that requires a lot of financing.
The unfortunate thing about investing in the training of staff in the food and beverage industry is that some of them may leave soon after completing their training which becomes the employer’s loss and this has become a worrying trend.
The businessman added that taxes paid by the businesses is also another factor which prevents young businesses from thriving.
“Another thing is the taxes we take. You just started your business and you need to pay taxes and pay your staff at the same time.
Taxes hurt start-ups and Tic believes they need to be given incentives to survive.
He complained about the system being unfavourable to local businesses but being supportive of foreign businesses.
With small Ghanaian businesses suffering, Tic said all hope is not lost “and we believe we will survive”, he added.
