Disappointed Otto Addo reacts to possibility of Black Stars playing home games at a neutral venue

Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has said it will be a pity for the national team to play their home games in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers outside Ghana.

The Black Stars might be playing their next home game in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on foreign soil after the ban on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium by the Confederation of African Cup.

Reacting to the ban, Otto Addo said they will love to play their home game against Sudan in front of Ghanaians but the decision lies solely with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“If it comes to this and this is how it looks, then it’s really a pity. Surely, we love to play in front of our home crowd, but at the end of the day, we have to make the best out of this situation.”

“There is nothing we can do about it because it’s a CAF decision. I think we should manage and play at home so that our crowd can see us,” Otto Addo said in a video sighted by Happy Sports on X.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has instructed the Ghana Football Association to present the University of Ghana Sports Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as venues for the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
