Deportivo Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is a booking away from picking up a one game suspension ahead of Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash against Girona.
The hard-tackling enforcer is on a tightrope ahead of the much-anticipated clash after picking up four yellow cards so far in the Spanish top flight league.
Wakaso escaped a booking in the side’s goalless draw with Sevilla over the weekend but could face a sanction if he picks up a yellow card in the Girona game – which means he will sit out of the side’s La Liga match against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Meanwhile, captain Manu Garcia and Martin Aguirregabiria could join the Ghanaian in missing Sunday’s match at the Wanda Metropolitano if they pick bookings on Wednesday.
After 14 rounds of matches, only Rubén Duarte has missed a match for Abelardo Fernández’s due to suspension.
Wakaso has made 13 appearances in all competitions fro the club, 10 in the league and 3 in the Copa del Rey.
