Lawyer for the remanded Democracy hub protesters, Martin Kpebu has expressed disappointment in the trial and remand of democracy Hub protesters.

According to him, the case did not require a remand of protesters, as the police did not make a good case to warrant such, “I’m extremely disappointed that the learned trial judge chose to remand them! This case does not warrant a remand. The police did not make a good case for it”

He said that, quite a number of offences were cases of misdemeanor, ‘’as the judge himself accepted, quite a number of the cases are misdemeanor, the sentence will be a fine which ranges from a maximum of 3 years’’.

‘if you start punishing the person even before the trial, it will infringe the right of the accused, just grant bail’’, he lamented.
