
Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has officially opened the 2025 Africa Land Forces Summit in Accra, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in tackling evolving global security threats.
Announcing the development via his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 8 April, Dr. Boamah shared highlights of the summit and acknowledged the participation of key stakeholders from across the globe.
The high-level event, held at the Kempinski Hotel, brought together Army Chiefs from 50 nations 40 of which are African to deliberate on critical security issues such as cyber threats, violent extremism, and terrorism.
Delivering remarks on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama following a Ceremonial Change of Guard at Jubilee House, Dr. Boamah described the summit as a vital platform for constructive dialogue and joint action among global defence partners.
He stressed the need for robust information sharing, effective counter-intelligence, and collaborative counter-terrorism operations to ensure peace and security across nations.
Dr. Boamah noted that such engagements not only bolster the capacity of national armed forces but also enhance the operational synergy of allied defence institutions.
Among the dignitaries at the summit was the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Evelyn Palmer, who addressed participants on behalf of the U.S government and lauded the summit’s goals.
The Defence Minister extended appreciation to the U.S. for its continued support and acknowledged the presence of prominent guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, Ghana’s Chief of Defence Staff Major General William Agyapong, local service chiefs, officers from SETAF-AF, and representatives from industry and academia.

Africa Land Forces (Security) Summit 2025 Begins

Yesterday, on behalf of HE President John Dramani Mahama , I opened the 2025 Africa Land Forces (Security) Summit at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, a few hours after the Ceremonial Change of Guard at the Jubilee House.
This mutually beneficial Security Summit has brought together Army Chiefs from 50 countries (40 from Africa) to deliberate on contemporary security challenges relating to cyberspace, violent extremism, and terrorism among others.
We believe information sharing, counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism measures are critical ingredients for global peace and security.
This approach enhances defence capabilities and operational efficiency of Armed Forces and allied institutions.
Your Excellency, Virginia Evelyn Palmer, the United States Ambassador to Ghana graced the auspicious occasion and delivered a speech on behalf of the Government of the United States of America.
