Amidst swirling speculations and rumors, Black Stars defender, Daniel Amartey, has made a powerful statement about his commitment to the national team.
Regardless of any differences with coaches, Amartey emphasized that he plays for the love of his country, not for specific individuals. The defender in an exclusive interview with Happy Sports declared his readiness to answer the call whenever Ghana needs him on the field, reaffirming his allegiance to representing his motherland.
Addressing social media buzz about him deleting Black Stars pictures from his Instagram, leaving only pictures of him at his club slide, Beşiktaş J.K, Amartey dismissed the notion as childish.
He clarified that his limited social media presence was a personal choice and had no connection to any coach’s decision regarding his playing time.
“Why would I delete my Black Stars pictures from my Instagram? It would be so childish. Everyone who knows me knows I am not a social media person; it’s all part of life, and it’s not because of the coach’s decision not to field me.”
The experienced defender was a member of the Black Stars squad that, for the second consecutive time, couldn’t advance from the group stage in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
Ghana secured the third position in their group with 2 points. In the aftermath of their elimination from the competition, Coach Chris Hughton and his entire technical team have been disbanded.
