Kwahu Abenehene, Daasebre Mampong Agyei II has outlined his vision for Kwahu development at a media engagement in Asante Mampong.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service to mark his seventieth birthday alongside his four siblings, Daasebre Mampong Agyei II shared his aspirations to make Kwahu an intellectual and sporting fortitude.

Daasebre Mampong Agyei II recounted the circumstances leading to his ascension to the throne in 2017, highlighting the familial ties between Asante Mampong and Kwahu Abene. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and lead the Kwahu people.

However, the Kwahu Abenehene revealed a lingering issue that has marred his reign. He spoke of the conflict that arose on May 5, 2017, when Okyemfuor Asiedu Agyemang, Kwahu Abetifihene, declared war on the people of Abene.

Despite reporting the matter to the police, no significant action has been taken in the past six years, leaving many citizens disillusioned. Daasebre Mampong Agyei II emphasized the importance of justice and urged authorities, including the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akufo Dampare, to address the issue promptly.

In light of these challenges, Daasebre Mampong Agyei II expressed his dedication to harnessing Kwahu’s untapped potential. He outlined his ambitious plans to invest in human resource, particularly in the field of education.

Additionally, he revealed his intention to establish a company named “Kwahu Foods” as part of his broader strategy for Kwahu’s economic growth.

Some residents who were impacted by Abetifihene’s declaration of war told the media about their terrifying experiences. They expressed worry about the perception of lawlessness in Kwahu and pleaded with Dr. Akufo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, to act quickly. They emphasised the need for justice.

Daasebre Mampong Agyei II further assured his people of a peaceful future, urging them to remain optimistic about the positive changes he aims to bring to the region.
