The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has issued a warning to the public against using digital lending mobile applications (Apps) due to a rise in cyberbullying cases among users.
In a press release, the CSA reported receiving approximately 130 complaints from victims who had used these apps, which are not approved by the Bank of Ghana or the Data Protection Commission.
The CSA identified several problematic loan apps, including Ahomka Loan, Antcredit, Beanloan, Bestloan, BezoMoney, Boomloan, Casharrow, Cashwave, Cmgh Loan, Cosycredit, Credit Bag, Divacash, Express Loan, Five Loan, FullCredit, Homecredit, Unik Credit, Ozzy Money, Pea Money, Roseloan, Safeloan among others.
The authority noted that the operations of these loan apps violate the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930), as stated in Bank of Ghana (BoG) notice BG/GOV/SEC/2022/10.
The CSA urged the public to avoid these apps and to report any cybersecurity or cybercrime incidents to the Authority via text or call 292, email- report@csa.gov.gh and WhatsApp number 050160311.
