Managing Director of Hearts of Oak, Frederick Moore, has called on both the government and corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the sports fraternity because they need football to be successful.
The Covid-19 pandemic is greatly affecting economies and the sporting industry, definitely has not been left out.
Speaking on the effects of Covid-19 on Ghana’s number one sport station, Happy 98.9FM, Frederick implied that the football fraternity, as well as Corporate Ghana and the government, will need to support each other to be able to survive in these dire times.
He stated that football has been one of the biggest forms of sport in Ghana for the last sixty years, hence, it is important that if Ghana is going to do well in the KAAF competitions and also in the Black Stars, then local football should be doing well.
Mr. Moore alternated that, “There is another side to it as well in terms of the GDP, the Corporation, and the Corporate Ghana aspect of it that, the more successful businesses are, the more successful Corporate Ghana is going to be”.
Frederick Moore pleaded with Corporate Ghana and the government to look at football with a different spectacle and come to the aid of Ghanaian football. He confessed that he personally, does not believe there is any football club in Ghana that will survive with just internally generated funds, and even just with sponsorship.
“If we want to compete and compete well in Africa and the rest of the world, we would need either Corporate Ghana heavily involved or the government involved”, he told Happy FM.
