COVID-19: Residents in Prampram oppose GFA’s offer to gov’t

Residents living in Prampram have opposed the move by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to offer the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram to government to be used as an isolation center amid the coronavirus outbreak .

As reported by Happy Sports, the GFA as part of its contribution towards the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak in the country offered the facility to be considered by government as an isolation center for the Covid-19 patients.

The GFA in a statement on offering the facility to government said,“Through our Medical Committee, we have gotten in touch with the authorities to make them aware that our facility at Prampram is available for use,” said General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo.

“The Centre of Excellence is spacious and we think, the facility can be of great help to government in this challenging time.”

Despite the kind gesture by the GFA, residents of Prampram have opposed the offer and are set to reject any move to house the Covid-19 patients in that vicinity.

The residents demonstrated against the decision on Sunday and are set to petition government to avoid accepting the facility as an isolation center.

Ghana has recorded 408 cases with eight deaths and four recoveries.
