A Koforidua High Court will today January 6, 2025 rule on an application filed by the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) to put aside an interim injunction which prevents the swearing- in of the Member of Parliament- elect for Akwatia Constituency, Ernest Kumi.
NPP Counsel, Lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo moved the application, arguing that the ex parte injunction filed was based on a petition that was improper before the court.
He urged the court not to only set aside the injunction order but as well dismiss the petition.
Lawyer Nimako Marfo further stated that the election results could only be challenged 21 days after they have been published and gazetted.
The Court on Thursday January 2, 2025 granted the NDC’s request of prohibiting Ernest Kumi from being sworn-in as MP in Parliament on January 6, 2025.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate Henry Blakey Yiadom filed the petition against Ernest Kumi.
