Banker and Marketing Consultant Nana Yaw Kesse says, clubs in the Ghana Premier League(GPL) are not concerned about the impact the court action is having on sponsors of the league.
The Ghana Football Association(GFA) suspended the Ghana Premier League owing to a Motion on Notice for Injunction filed by AshantiGold SC.
The GFA subsequently communicated this decision to all sponsors, partners and clubs.
Speaking in an interview on Happy Fm in relation to the impact of the court action on the GPL, Mr Kesse explained that, there are certain questions the clubs need to ask themselves and also activities they need to undertake to be able to gather funds and also promote the league for more sponsors.
“The question the clubs need to ask themselves is that, what are we doing to bring fans to the stadium?, what type of engagement do we have with the local community in which we operate?
“There is no plan whatsoever to engage the local community in which they play, nor the fans”. He told Ohene Bampoe Brenya.
Mr Kesse also added that there is no plan from the clubs to seek the interest of the sponsor of the league citing examples, he said,
“I remember some time ago when my former bank sponsored the league, there were instances where we had to send individuals to the stadiums to be pitch panels to go and get things in place for the games but there were many clubs who didn’t care whether we were well represented or branded.”
