Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced plans to introduce courier services to deliver passports directly to people’s homes.
This initiative, according to the minister aims to enhance convenience and streamline the passport delivery process.
Addressing Staff of the Ministry during a meeting earlier today, Ablakwa emphasized the need for full digitalization and integration of key stakeholders, such as the National Identification Authority (NIA) and the Ministry of Communication.
Ablakwa stated that, “there has been a great deal of concern among Ghanaians regarding the passport process and convenience. We need to go fully digital and make it possible for courier services to deliver passports to people”.
He also highlighted the issue of uncollected passports, stressing the importance of cutting down on inconveniences.
“We shouldn’t have a situation where thousands of passports remain uncollected. We must integrate the system to reduce these inefficiencies”.
