Coronavirus Outbreak: Churches might cause more deaths than Coronavirus

President of the Center for Apostolic Ministerial Apprenticeship, Apostle Joseph A. Jackson has asserted that if care is not taken, a lot more Ghanaians will die of hunger and other harsh conditions should the coronavirus spread more. This, he said will be as a result of the actions and inactions of churches in the country.

According to him, we are in bad times and churches should support members of their congregation now instead of trying to throw their weight behind government whilst demanding money from their congregation.

He said, “We’re in bad times and shouldn’t use offerings to kill church members.
Members of these churches who sell to school children and teachers have had their businesses disrupted as schools have now been closed. It is about time the church gives back to church members.”

He furthered that, “Currently the government has all it takes to address issues of the corona virus at a national scale and churches giving to the government can cause some people to pocket the monies. Churches should do a direct service to their members by giving to them personally. We are at a critical stage and we should stop playing. The churches should stop burdening their members with offering. They should locate their members and help them.”

On his authority, the possible deaths from hunger and suffering of Ghanaians could be more than deaths recorded from the novel coronavirus and advised churches to put things in place so it does not get to that extent.

He advised churches to start distributing sanitizers, food and other stuff to their church members.
“The Church should do that. The contributions of many church members have made some churches great. They should be cart tons of foodstuff from farming communities and distribute to their members,” he stated.
