Controversial penalty gives Kotoko win against Hearts

Asante Kotoko defeated arch-rivals Hearts of  Oak by a lone goal to extend their lead on top of the table in week 24 fixture.

The win sees Asante Kotoko open a 15-point lead on the league table against defending champions Hearts of Oak.

Speaking after the game Hearts of Oak coach, Samuel Boadu blamed his team’s defeat to poor officiating.

“We all want Ghana football to be fair but in such a big game and such decisions come in it’s really difficult. If we play fair game I don’t think I will lose this game. We are still on course to retain the league until the last minute.

Asante Kotoko coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum was satisfied with the performance of his players after the game.

On the penalty decision, he said, “From my technical area there was a contact. The player just touched him and he brought him down. In the laws of the game it’s a penalty and penalties are part of the game.
