Congratulations for making our lives easier – Arise Ghana Convener

Lead Convener for Arise Ghana, Mark Ewusi Arkoh, has expressed disappointment at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to uphold the many promises it made to Ghanaians.

Sarcastically, Mark commended the government for having served the Ghanaian people tremendously well.

“When it comes to the petroleum sector the gov’t is trying hard to make sure Ghanaians have a good life. Comparing the prices of a litre of fuel from 2021 to 2022 and the prices of goods and services within the same periods you will realize they have skyrocketed.

The gov’t is trying hard to make life difficult for Ghanaians and we want to congratulate the government for that. We are not seeing the realization of the many promises the government made to Ghanaians during their campaign period.”

He bemoaned the high levels of unemployment which has led to hopelessness in Ghana. According to him, there is no hope in the mantra, ‘The future is in the hands of the youth’ per current happenings in the country.

“The salary structure in the country is so bad that media personnel who are advocates for the nation end up being corrupt in the discharge of their duties because of poverty. Are we building a proper democracy for Ghana with this? I think the answer is no,” he told Raymond Nyamador on the Happy Morning Show.

The advocate mentioned with sadness how state lands and forest reserves are being captured by politicians, an incident the group is calling on government to address.

A group calling itself Arise Ghana has called on Parliament to constitute a bi-partisan probe into matters relating to the Achimota forest.

The group says the probe should be transparent and persons found culpable dealt with.

It also said the E.I. 144, declassifying parts of the Achimota forest, should be reversed.

E.I. 144 is in relation to 361 acres of Achimota forest that the government says it is returning to its custodial owners, the Owoo family.

But like some observers, the group is sceptical of the government’s handling of the matter.
