Conduct voter register audit for credibility - Goasomanhene to EC

The Goaso Traditional Area’s Paramount Chief, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, has urged the Electoral Commission’s Chair, Jean Mensa, to tackle NDC’s voter register concerns after their nationwide ‘Enough is Enough’ protest on September 17, sparked by the Commission’s refusal to allow an external audit of the voters register.

In a meeting with NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs on September 18, the Electoral Commission was advised to commit to an external audit to ensure peace and transparency in the electoral process. It was suggested that if the EC maintains the register’s accuracy, an audit would further validate its credibility.

Nana Kwasi Bosomprah expressed disappointment and frustration over the Electoral Commission’s reluctance to adopt his previous suggestion to decentralize the voter registration process. He had recommended taking the process to local villages and districts to make it more accessible, especially considering transportation challenges.

He appealed to the EC to listen to the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) demands, emphasizing that this would contribute to a peaceful electoral process.
