Concerned Drivers in the Greater Accra Region are threatening to increase the cost of transportation by 20% if leadership fails to increase it.
According to them, most drivers are complaining about the recent increase in fuel and other spare parts, calling for an increase in transportation fares.
‘’Due to the high cost of oil, diesel and spare parts, most drivers have parked their cars because they are unable to buy these, hence our call to our national executives to increase the transportation fares’’.
The association in an interview, expressed frustration at the high cost of spare parts in the country.
‘’The high cost of these parts are the reasons most cars are parked and the sad aspect is that, we are not given loans because we are drivers’’.
‘’Just few weeks ago, the government increased the cost of water, electricity and petroleum products, yet we are still stuck with the old fare, which is unfair’’.
They urged the leadership of the Ghana Private and Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to as a matter of urgency call for an increment in transport fares.
