At least three astute Ghanaian coaches have advised Black Stars head coach Avram Grant to stick with Razak Brimah as the team’s number one goalkeeper for Ghana’s semi-final clash against Cameroon later this evening at Franceville.
Ex-Black Stars captain and coach of Dreams FC, C.K Akunnor admitted that Brimah’s outburst was grave but kicking him out of his number one spot at this period of the tournament will be inimical to the success of the team.
“I agree that what he did was so bad but it won’t be helpful if we drop him at this time. Let’s keep him in post because he has already been punished by the Ghana Football Association.” C.K Akunnor told Happy FM.
Two other ex-Ghana internationals, Frimpong Manson, Willie Klutse and goalie Abukari Damba held same views as C.K Akunnor and both believe that Brimah should be given a temporary reprieve and offered the opportunity to man the posts against Cameroon.
“Razak has erred and we all admit that he shouldn’t have done that. But I’m sure the coach will look at who can help him more in the deparment of the game and it obviously will be Razak since he has been the number for the Black Stars all throughout the tournament.” Abukari Damba told Happy FM.
Willie Klutse beseeched Ghanaians to forgive Brimah and rally behind the team.
