Former Asante Kotoko management member, Yamoah Afrifa-Ponkor says Charles Kwabla (CK) Akonnor would have taken up the mantle as head coach if he had stayed as technical director of the club.
Akonnor was offered the technical director role which he declined after Kjetil Zacharrisen appointment.
According to Yamoah Ponkor, CK Akonnor should have kept his role at the club and he would have resumed the head coach position at this period.
“I am not the one to decide for Kotoko, CK decision to resign from the club was not good. If I was CK I would have accepted that challenge and moved on. If he had accepted, the mantle would have fallen for him again to become the coach. He should have accepted the challenge”, he said on Anopa Bosuo Sports on Happy FM.
“If he had stayed and taken up the technical role of the club, he would have resumed his duties as coach during this crisis”, he added.
Kotoko has given Coach Kjetil Zacharrisen up to Friday to report to camp or lose his job.
The Danish trainer did not return to Kumasi after Sunday’s game against San Pedro in the CAF Confederation Cup which they lost.
