The Western Regional Coordinating Council has announced that, the region has recorded eight (8) deaths and seven hundred and eighty nine (789) cases of cholera in the region.
According to the council , the region records daily cases not exceeding sixty (60) with Sekondi- Takoradi metropolis and Effia- Kwesimintim Municipality accounting for 95% of infections.
The council in a statement noted that, environmental surveillance investigations hays revealed that, 96% of infections are linked to food vendors particularly through the sale of contaminated vegetables such as salads, leaves and green peppers.
“These findings have prompted immediate actions to protect public health.”
The council has therefore assured the public that, urgent measures are being taken to address the outbreak.
