Cholera outbreak in Ada claims two lives

Cholera outbreak in Ada East and West districts has sadly claimed two lives, with 43 reported cases so far, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS). The swift response of health authorities aims to contain the situation and prevent further fatalities.

The Director of Public Health at GHS, Dr. Frank Bekoe confirmed the numbers and emphasized that efforts are underway to manage cases and prevent escalation. Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation, focusing on early detection and contact tracing to limit the spread.

He cited that Cholera, caused by Vibrio cholerae bacteria, spreads through contaminated food and water, thriving in areas with poor sanitation and limited clean water access. Symptoms include severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration, which can be fatal if untreated.

He advised residents to take precautionary measures, including frequent handwriting, consuming safe water, and proper food handling.
