China eyes promising future economic engagements with Ghana

Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Lu, Kun has announced advancements made by the Chinese government to bolster the economy of Ghana.
Speaking at the commemoration of the People’s Republic of China’s 74th anniversary at the Embassy of China in Ghana, he highlighted the international synergy that exists between the two states and the interrelating roles played by Ghana to China and vice versa. “China and Ghana have been good friends, good partners and good brothers and support each other in bilateral and multilateral areas. Ghana firmly abides by the one China-principle. Ghana also supported in areas of human rights, UN resolutions and elections of international organizations.”

According to the ambassador, decades of China-Ghana relations since July 5, 1960 has brought about a ton of benefits to the Ghanaian people. He listed a couple of renowned Ghana based projects and initiatives that have been aided by the Chinese government this year, like the Annex Building of the Foreign Ministry, Ghana’s timely $3bill USD IMF bailout, Military Building projects across the nation, The donation of relief items and provision of free health care to flood victims in the Volta Region and The China Visa Application Centre in Accra.

H.E Lu Kun recognized the importance of human resource to building a nation’s economy, and made mention of China’s attempt to create more jobs for the Ghanaian people. Also, an elite group of Ghanaian young people have been enrolled into institutions established in different parts of the country to study advanced knowledge on diverse socio-economic topics and establish an in-depth understanding of Chinese culture. This, in hand will create jobs for more Ghanaian youth inside and outside the country. “People to People exchange is among the priorities of China-Ghana cooperation. In 2022, vocational institution upgrade projects were completed and Luban Agriculture Workshop was commissioned, providing vocational skills training for local farms.”

The ambassador believed that these initiatives established by the Chinese government in Ghana, will keep China together and was optimistic about prosperity that cuts across for both nations.

The 74th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, gathered many distinguished individuals from all parts of the world and delivered an astute fusion of rich Ghanaian culture and Chinese heritage. These highlighted the strong diplomatic bond between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Ghana.
