Childs Right International (CRI) blames School authorities over four death recorded in Senior High Schools

The Chief executive officer of Childs Right International (CRI) Bright Appiah has blamed School authorities for their alleged negligence leading to the deaths of four boarding students in Senior High Schools. According to him, four boarding students have died in four senior High Schools between February and July this year due to untreated sickness by alleged negligence of School authorities. The death occurred at Ghana National College, Aburi Girls SHS, Akim Swedru SHS and Kalpohin SHS.

Speaking to the media, he said this has been happening for many years with alleged neglect over the welfare of students who needed immediate attention. He also said some of the fatalities recorded associated with malaria can be treated if attention had been given early. Mr Appiah called for proper health policies for the students in various senior high schools. School authorities should also avoid bureaucratic process in obtaining exeat card when students ask for it to seek medical attention.
” One parent whose name has been withheld recalled than her daughter was once denied an exeat and when she returned home on vacation, her situation became worse”.

He added that Childs Right International would always call for better policies to make sure school authorities pay attention to the welfare of students.
