It’s been a long week of troubles for the two dancehall artistes in Ghana; Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
In a press conference on Thursday 23rd May 2019 the board of the award scheme have banned dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale indefinitely from participating in all aspects of the country’s foremost music award scheme, the Vodafone Music Awards (VGMAs) following a brawl between the two feuding musicians at the 20th anniversary of the VGMAs in Accra last Saturday.
Board member Nat Brew Amandzeba explained that the action of the Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale on the night “brought the name of the event into disrepute”.
According to Amandzeba, the decision was taken after “careful deliberations” and “extensive consultation” with stakeholders in the music industry.
The awards which were withheld were “Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Vodafone Song of the Year’ .
