A wave of triumph and tenacity swept through the Zulka Astroturf park as the Functional Sports League Ghana organized its first-ever Functional Fitness Tournament on Friday, December 1st.

Enthusiastic participants engaged in a dynamic showcase of athleticism, featuring Step-craft, Aerobathon, and a fiercely contested functional fitness tournament.

The thrill reached its peak as competitors battled for coveted positions, demonstrating both physical prowess and mental fortitude.

The prize table boasted enticing rewards for the winners, ensuring recognition and encouragement for their dedication. 

The top performers in each category were showered with accolades, including cash prizes, trophies, medals, certificates, student mattresses with pillows, and cartons of water.

Winners in the Men’s Category:

1. Charles Adama (1st Place) – GH¢ 1,500.00, trophy, medal, certificate, student mattress with pillow, 5 cartons of water

2. John Mensah (2nd Place) – GH¢ 1,000.00, silver medal, certificate, pillow, 4 cartons of water

3. Cletus Bannerman (3rd Place) – GH¢ 500.00, bronze medal, certificate, T-shirt, 3 cartons of water

4. Charles Nartey (4th Place) – GH¢ 300.00, certificate, T-shirt, 2 cartons of water

5. Donnel Quarshie (5th Place) – GH¢ 200.00, certificate, T-shirt, 2 cartons of water

Winners in the Women’s Category:

1. Rebecca Boafoa (1st Place) – GH¢ 1,500.00, trophy, medal, certificate, student mattress with pillow, 5 cartons of water

2. Diana (2nd Place) – GH¢ 1,000.00, silver medal, certificate, pillow, 4 cartons of water

3. Victoria (3rd Place) – GH¢ 500.00, bronze medal, certificate, T-shirt, 3 cartons of water

4. Comfort Adwoa (4th Place) – GH¢ 300.00, certificate, T-shirt, 2 cartons of water

5. Matilda (5th Place) – GH¢ 200.00, certificate, T-shirt, 2 cartons of water

Nana Adu Mankattah, President of Sports For All Ghana (NASFAG) and Gyasehene of Adukrom, graced the occasion as a special guest. In his address, he applauded both the organizers and competitors, emphasizing the broader significance of the sport. Ghana’s recent affiliation with the International Functional Fitness Federation- IF3 was celebrated, positioning the nation as the sixth in Africa to join. Mankattah encouraged increased participation from corporate bodies, churches, and communities, highlighting the sport’s potential for unity and excellence.

As Charles Adama and Rebecca stood atop the podiums, the inaugural Functional Fitness Tournament not only celebrated individual achievement but also marked a significant chapter in Ghana’s burgeoning functional fitness landscape.
