The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced an indefinite strike starting from Friday, June 14, 2024.
This action is in response to the government’s delay in implementing the National Labour Commission’s Arbitral Award Orders and agreed-upon service conditions.
CETAG’s strike affects all 46 public colleges of education in Ghana and aims to compel the government to fulfill their demands, including paying one month’s salary to members for additional duties in 2022 and applying agreed-upon allowances to deserving members.
The association stated that the strike is necessary to uphold the economic rights of its members as per Ghana’s constitution and labor laws, urging members to cease teaching and related services until their concerns are addressed.
