Canada did not help in rescuing their nationals in kumasi – Government

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has denied report in the media that Canadian security officials were involved in the operation that led to the rescue of the two kidnapped Canadians in Ghana.

According to the Minister who spoke in a media briefing in Accra on Wednesday, “No foreign forces helped in rescuing the Canadians girls who were kidnapped in kumasi.”

“It is our understanding that these Canadian team were in town to explore ways by which they could help in rescuing these young ladies. But that was not necessary as our security apparatus was on the ground and had clarity on what to do and the result is what we see currently,” the Minister said.

The minister also debunked claims that the Ghanaian government relied on setelite data provided by the Canadian government.
