The Deputy National Communication Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn has said that the President’s abortion of the December 17 referendum proves that the minority has an upper hand in the upcoming general elections in 2020.
He was speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ with Kwame Afrifa Mensah when he stated: “the call off of the referendum is a technical knock-out by the NDC. This is a reflection of what will happen in 2020.”
According to him, up until the president cancelled the referendum, the NDC still stood by decision to vote no at the referendum. “Today, politics is dividing people in the religious phase. Therefore, politicizing local governance would not have helped the country”, he added.
The president called off the referendum of December 17 stating that the process lacked national consensus of key stakeholders and the populace.
