Hasaacas Ladies of Ghana secured a 3-1 win against Malabo Kings from Equatorial Guinea their first win in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League in Cairo, Egypt.
The WAFU Zone B champions proved too strong for their opponents from Equatorial Guinea and scored in the opening minutes of the game through Evelyn Badu.
The Ghana Women’s Premier League and FA Cup champions continued to dominate the game which eventually led to their second goal courtesy Perpetual Agyekum.
Malabo Kings pulled one back but the WAFU Zone B Champions responded quickly before stoppage time to make it 3-1 by Evelyn Badu to get her brace for the day.
Speaking to the media after their victory, head coach of Hasaacas Ladies stated.
“I feel happy especially for the player, they had the chance to play as a team. Malabo Kings was a very good side but we managed to pass this match”.
“My compliments go to CAF for establishing women’s football, we are in the right direction. The future looks very bright and it’s a gradual process to become more like men’s football”-he added.
Hasaacas Ladies midfielder, Evelyn Badu was adjudged Player of the Match after the game.
The Ghanaian side share top spot in the group with Egyptian side Wadi Degla.
The host defeated As Mande of Mali 3-1 in the opening game.
