Ghana’s Black Queens were held to a goalless draw at home by the Harambee Starlets of Kenya in the first leg of the third round of the CAF Olympic qualifier on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
It was a frustrating game for the Black Queens as they failed to find the back of the net in the entire duration of the game.
Black Queens striker Pokuaa Milot Abena had the best chance in the first half to get the opener for the Black Queens but her effort was cleared off the line
The Harambee Starlets were resolute in defense as they prevented the Queens from getting a goal in the first half
Sweden based Ernestina Abambilla came on as a substitute for captain Priscilla Okyere in the second half but was taken off just some few minutes after she failed to impress.
Milliot Pokua made a beautiful run in the 73rd minute into the goal area of the Kenyans but saw her effort hit the woodwork to deny Ghana the first goal of the game.
Evelyn Badu also saw his header hit the crossbar in the 83rd minute.
Mercy Airo nearly got the goal for the Kenyans from a counter attack in the 88th minute but her effort was saved by Dumehasi Fafali
The Black Queens will travel to play the second leg on October 8 in Nairobi.
