Marking their maiden appearance in the CAF Confederations Cup competition, Dreams FC had to dig deep in the dying embers in the first round of their second-leg fixture against Guinean side, Milo FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
They initially fell behind 1-0 against Milo FC, who maintained their advantage until halftime.
However, Dreams FC made a resilient comeback as Agyenim Boateng netted a penalty, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 83rd minute.
They secured their progression with a last-minute goal from seasoned striker John Antwi, sealing a 3-2 aggregate victory over the two legs.
Following a 1-1 draw in the initial leg at Lansana Conte Stadium, the head coach of Dreams FC, Karim Zito acknowledged that he faced a formidable challenge in the return match, however, he managed to maneuver strategies in other to secure victory for his side.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, Coach Zito disclosed the mood in the dressing after his side managed to pull through the next round of the competition, in his own words, he remarked, “ It was all tears of joy in the dressing room after the match. Milo FC was a very difficult side to break down. I had to delve into my elements to develop three different strategies as to how to break them down. I’m very proud of the boys”.
Dreams FC will hope to continue from where they left off when they face Kallon FC from Sierra Leone in the second round of preliminary fixtures for a place in the main competition.
The clash is scheduled for 29 September.
