Oladimeji Oshode, Media Officer of Remo Stars Football Club has admitted facing Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC in this year’s CAF Champions League preliminary round would be tough.
Champions Medeama SC will lock horns with Nigerian side Remo Stars in the first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
This was revealed at the draw of the CAF inter-club competitions that took place at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt today, July 25, 2023.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports show, Oladimeji Oshode acknowledged that his side would have to prepare very well ahead of their matchup against Ghanaian champions.
“If we talk about the big guns in Ghana football, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are well known but its impressive for Medeama SC to beat these team to represent Ghana in Africa. This isn’t their first appearance in the competition which means they have the experience as well. Remo Stars is looking forward to playing with the best team in Africa and we will prepare very well”.
In their maiden appearance at this year’s CAF CL tournament, Remo Stars, underdogs, are looking forward to making an impact.
Medeama will first play host to Remo Stars at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Nigeria for the second leg. The first preliminary round is scheduled from 18-20 August for the first leg matches and 25 – 27 August for the second leg encounters.
The second preliminary round is fixed for 15 – 17 September and September 19 – October 1, 2023.
The winner of this tie will play against Guinean giants Horoya AC in the second preliminary round to fight for a place in the group stage.
