Former President John Mahama has received the backing of the United Cadres Front’s Eastern Regional Branch in his bid to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2024 presidential election.
The announcement was made in a press release. It also welcomed Mr. Mahama, who will start a three-day visit of the Eastern Region on April 11, 2023, in advance of the party’s internal presidential primaries.
Former President John Mahama is contesting with Kwadwo Bonsu former Mayor of KMA and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former Finance Minister.
However, the Cadres are of the view that the country under the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia led government has “retrogressed many years back, and an NDC government in 2024 with the experienced hands of former president John Dramani Mahama as the president in charge, will help restore health back to economy and move this country forward”.
The statement signed by Richard. K. Ansong, Eastern regional Chairman United Cadres Front and Jonathan Kwao-Sarbah, Secretary further said that “the Cadres who have seen it all from June 4th, through 31st Dec, till the inception of the 1992 constitution and beyond, believe that Ghana can work again under an NDC government led by former president John Dramani “.
“the cadres are entreating all and sundry more especially cadres, spread all over the country to support the candidature of former president John Dramani Mahama during the presidential primaries in respect of his vast experience in governance, and move the momentum a notch higher, to enable the NDC win the presidential elections with majority seats in parliament come 2024”.
