Winner of Accra Mall’s maiden Future Fashion Fund, Bright Sena Banini who operates under the brand name ‘Senabryte’ has promised to build a sustainable fashion brand to promote Ghanaian fashion.
Senabryte, who walked away with a cash prize of $3,000, a pop-up stall at Accra Mall, a corporate bank account with Standard Chartered Bank, a feature at next year’s South Africa Fashion Week as well as gifts from Woodin, Pandora and Mr. Price explained how winning the competition will advance his work.
“Winning the Future Fashion Fund is obviously a major highlight and the candle lighter for my brand because of the exposure that I know I am going to enjoy. The money and the pop up store is what every young creative emerging designer needs to start a brand. This is going to help me get enough machines to increase production and also to start my dream museum for my brand.”
Senabryte is a graduate from the Kumasi Technical University where he studied fashion design and textiles. He entered the fashion space officially at age 16 as a customized T-Shirt designer and admits that his love for fashion began at a much earlier age.
“At age six or seven, I used to wear paper clothes made by my elder sister when she began her apprenticeship and I liked modeling in these paper crafts thinking that I will be a model one day…Personally I love clothes and I always want to look stylish at every occasion.”, he added.
Speaking on his future plans and how he wants to be remembered, Senabryte hopes to be remembered for his “creativity, passion and unique initiatives in the fashion industry
“I hope to see my brand become the biggest retail brand in Ghana, walking the runway of international fashion weeks like Milan fashion week, Paris and New York fashion week…I want to build a museum in Ghana where all our stories and aesthetic are something the world will love to see”, he revealed.
The Future Fashion Fund is an extension of the Accra Mall Fashion Weekend (AMFW) which is an annual two-day fashion event which focuses on the fashion and beauty retail category.
