Breaking News: Black Stars budget for AFCON 2019 was 6.3 million – Sports Minister reveals

Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, today appeared before Parliament to answer questions on 2019 AFCON budget, hinting that the budget for the Black Stars was 6.3million dollars.

According to him, the budget for the entire tournament was 6.3 million dollars but a little above 4 million was only spent on the team.

Prior to the tournament in Egypt, there were questions raised concerning the budget for this year’s AFCON competition by fans and the media but the sector Minister failed to disclose the budget.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’ with Ohene Brenya-Bampoe, the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak advised the minister to give nothing but the facts when he appears in the chamber today or else there will be pandemonium. “The tournament has ended so what business does the supporters have still in Egypt? I will advise Hon. Isaac to give us facts when he comes to parliament because if he does otherwise there will be chaos. He should be careful.”

The expenditure covered the following:

  1. The playing body
  2. Technical team
  3. Members of Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports
  4. Representatives of GHALCA
  5. Representatives of Old Footballers
  6. Some staff of the GFA
  7. Some staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports
  8. Some member of the Ghana Supporters Union
  9. Journalists
