Boxer Michael Okine alias Ayittey Powers, has lambasted the media following report that he defrauded two persons in an Australia visa deal.
His denial comes in the wake of media reports the he defrauded two persons, Kofi Asare and Prince Adjei Sarpong of GH 7,500 and GH 6,500 respectively, as part payment of GH 28,000 under the pretext of facilitating travel documents for them but failed to fulfill his part of the bargain.
The report further indicated that, the victims after fruitless attempts to retrieve their money lodged a complaint with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command leading to the arrest of boxer Michael Okine.
Powers in an interview on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports, vehemently rubbished the report – claiming that he was invited by the police upon allegation leveled against him.
“The media like publishing fake stories without checking the facts,” he told Happy FM.
“I will deal with the person who published that story. I was invited by the police based on some allegations someone made against me”
“I did the visa for the people but it was stolen by robbers who invaded my car. I spent two days at the police station”
“Kofi Asare and Nana Yaw wanted me to take them to Australia but they went to the Australian Embassy already with different professions. The only money I took from them was for the visa.”
“I don’t owe Kofi Asare and Nana Yaw. I gave their money back long time.”
“I am not a visa connection man but I’ve the channels to take people abroad .I don’t think it is illegal.”
“They knew that I wasn’t an Embassy but they still came to me to help them get visas so if they don’t get it, they should relax,” Powers deduced.
