Renowned Ghana U-17 goalkeeper, Ali Jara, has put forward a compelling argument in favor of reinstating Richard Ofori as Ghana’s number one goalkeeper. This endorsement comes on the heels of the recent performance of the current first-choice goalie, Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
Ali Jara’s assertion revolved around Richard Ofori’s previous status as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper, a position he held before a serious injury sidelined him. According to Jara, Ofori’s exceptional skills and experience render him the ideal candidate to reclaim the number one spot on the team, outshining the current first-choice goalkeeper, Ati-Zigi.
In an interview on Happy FM’s “Where Are They?” segment, Ali Jara remarked, “Richard Ofori was Ghana’s top choice before his unfortunate injury, but if he’s back in the team and fit, he unquestionably merits the role of the team’s number one goalkeeper, ahead of Ati-Zigi.”
It’s worth noting that Richard Ofori marked his return to the pitch for the Black Stars in a friendly against Liberia. He was part of the twenty-three players called up by Chris Hughton for international friendlies against and the United States of America .
The results of these friendlies were disappointing, with Ghana suffering a 2-0 loss to Mexico and a disheartening 4-0 defeat against the United States of America (USA), both of which left the team without a single goal scored and conceding a total of six.
The Black Stars will now focus for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers scheduled for November. The team will face Madagascar on November 13 and Comoros on November 21 in pivotal matches that will determine their World Cup destiny.
