Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Francis Oti-Akenteng has revealed that Ghana U20 team will commence camping ahead of the 12th African Games Rabat, Morocco this weekend.
The Black Satellites are the only football team representing the nation in the upcoming tournament that will take place from 19 to 31 August 2019 but they are yet to start preparation for the competition.
Speaking to Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports, the GFA Technical Director explained why the team is yet to commence training.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports’ Chief Director has assured us that the team will go to Prampram for camping this Saturday. We have done all the necessary arrangement except the food that the players will eat. The ministry are working hard to make it happen”- he stated
“The U20 who will be representing the country in Morocco for the Africa games are still home which is worrying for me .We were waiting for Hon Isaac Asiamah to come so that we can have a discussion with him but since he hasn’t returned, the deputy minister has taken charge to make sure that the team starts training”- he stated
Ex-international Yaw Preko was named the U20 head coach last month after Jimmy Cobblah was fired for the Team’s poor performance at the Africa Youth Championship held in Niger earlier this year.
