Black Satellites coach Jimmy Cobblah has disclosed he will be relying on only local players for the WAFU U-20 championship which begins on Thursday.
The team have been in camp for the last two weeks preparing for the warm up competition ahead of the Africa Youth Championship in Niger next year.
The former Inter Allies gaffer disclosed the preparatory tournament is reserved for his local players to prove their worth ahead of the naming of his squad for the AFCON U-20 championship.
“We believe the WAFU isn’t about the cup but its preparation,” he told the press. “We have spent some time with the team during the qualifiers where we invited some European players. And now they are gone,” he added.
“So we have decided to look at the local players around and understudy them from now to the tournament. And we will know those who can make the team after the WAFU for AFCON”, Jimmy added.
“We have been in camp for two weeks but we hoping to display good performance to boast the players morale going into the Africa Cup of Nations”.
