Black Queens’ Philomena Abakah signs for Serbian top-flight Red Star Belgrade

Ghanaian international Philomena Abakah has signed with Serbian club Red Star Belgrade ahead of the upcoming season. 

She has agreed to a two-year contract following her departure from Israeli side ASA Tel Aviv at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

A regular presence in the Black Queens lineup, Abakah is set to continue her European adventure with this move to Serbia. 

The club announced the signing on Monday, August 26, and Abakah is expected to join her new teammates soon.

Abakah, known for her left-footed attacking abilities , previously played for Tanzania’s Simba Queens and featured in the CAF Women’s Champions League two seasons ago. 

She was also part of Nora Hauptle’s squad that secured qualification for the Black Queens to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which has since been rescheduled to 2025.
