Ghana’s Chef de Mission for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Frederick Acheampong, has commended government for ensuring Team Ghana arrived early to commence preparations for the Games.
Ghana will be competing for medals at this year’s competition with over 100 athletes participating in the various disciplines.
According to Frederick Acheampong, about 85 percent of Ghana’s Team has arrived at the Games to kick start preparations. This he mentioned will help the team to acclimatize and be ready when the Games officially start this weekend.
Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports on Happy FM, on preparations made so far by the team he said:, “About 85% of the team have arrived. The team has begun preparations ahead of the Games and we have access to the facilities for training which is very good on our part.
‘’We are waiting for the other Team members to arrive from the USA and join the team.
“I must commend the Sports Ministry for ensuring Team Ghana arrives early to train ahead of the other countries. The government has taken care of all the costs in order for us to acclimatize and also get a first-hand feel of the facilities.
“The Sports Minister is supervising our activities over here. We don’t have any problem here and all the athletes are in good health”, he added.
