The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor has urged the the Vice-President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to contribute towards the NDC’s 2020 Presidential bid.
Touting the confidentiality level of the NDC’s funding platform which was launched yesterday, the party faithful revealed that “donors can be assured of a high level of confidentiality.”
Addressing the Vice President on Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben, he said, “If the Vice President himself feels the President is under performing, he can send us his contribution to aid our election campaign. We will push his party to opposition without his party ever knowing.”
“Disappointed members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), from Ministers and appointees to contractors and galamsey operators should come out and contribute towards our Presidential campaign,” he further encouraged.
Speaking about the NDC’s election campaign which he refered to us the ‘rescue mission’, Otokunor added “The idea of our rescue mission is to bring all Ghanaians together to achieve a common cause. And that is voting the current government out of power.”
The NDC has launched an electronic payment platform to enable party members and sympathisers to contribute financially to their 2020 campaign.
Former President and flag bearer of the party, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, who launched the platform yesterday, said the move was a solid step by the party to bring transparency to the funding of its political campaign.
