The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has revealed that the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) will introduce electronic gates (E-Gates) by December 2024, marking a significant step towards enhancing the airport’s security and efficiency.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced that the upcoming E-Gates at Kotoka International Airport’s arrival section will streamline the process for Ghanaians, eliminating the need for immigration checks upon arrival, making it a more efficient and seamless experience for citizens returning home.
While addressing a gathering of clergy in Cape Coast on Monday June 3, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia revealed the plans for E-Gates at Kotoka International Airport, marking the beginning of his regional tour.
This announcement kicked off his tour, which aims to engage with various stakeholders and share the government’s vision and initiatives.
“By the end of this year, arriving in Ghana will become a seamless experience. With our new E-gates at Kotoka Airport, you’ll simply scan your Ghana card and walk through, no need to wait in line for immigration officers. This technology will streamline the process, making it faster and more convenient for travelers. We’re committed to making this innovation a reality before the year ends,”he said.
