Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced plans to offer free tertiary education for persons with disability if elected president.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement at Ave Havi in the Akatsi North District on Tuesday, October 22, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision to introduce inclusive policies aimed at advancing national development. Among these policies is a commitment to make tertiary education, including universities and training colleges, accessible at no cost for persons with disability.

He disclosed plans to reserve a quota for persons with disability in government recruitment exercises. This measure, he emphasized, will promote their integration into society and enhance their participation in the workforce.

Dr. Bawumia noted that while some persons with disability may face physical challenges, they possess significant intellectual capabilities that must be harnessed for the nation’s progress.
